SATURDAY NIGHT STEEL SHOOT (SNSS) REGULATIONS

SNSS does not operate under the same regulations as the indoor range, and stricter safety rules are enforced. Violations will not be tolerated. If a shooter is not confident or is unsure about their level of proficiency, then it is recommended that they enroll in a proper firearms training course before participating in SNSS.
Only SAFE shooters who possess solid pistol shooting and manipulation skills may participate.
Shooters attending orientation will be evaluated on their competency with the operation of their firearm and their safety practices & will be required to pass an accuracy test. Participants must pass all three requirements to qualify.
At 5:00 pm sharp, and only on the FIRST Saturday of every month, a mandatory safety demonstration (orientation) will be given to first-time shooters (6 new shooters maximum per session on a first-come, first-served basis). Latecomers will NOT be accepted.

GSSF, USPSA, IDPA, Law enforcement, and shooting school graduates are much preferred.
All shooters must have good shooting skills and know how to safely and properly operate your firearm. In addition, all shooters must maintain trigger and muzzle discipline at all times.
Range Officer (RO) decisions are final and non-negotiable. Acceptance of this rule is a requirement to participate in any SNSS event.
What do I need to participate?
• A reliable pistol or revolver in 9mm, 38spl, 40s&w, or 45acp. Magnum calibers (.357, 10mm, etc.) are NOT allowed. Also, .22lr is not allowed.
• A soft or hard case to contain your pistol individually and allows it to be separated from your other equipment. The pistol must be unloaded and cased without magazines (even empty magazines) and without ammunition.
• Three or more magazines or speed loaders.
• A secure and sturdy gun belt.
• A Kydex/plastic or leather holster is required. A magazine pouch is also recommended. Holsters must be rigid and completely protect the trigger guard. Soft-sided holsters such as cloth or nylon holsters that do not have a rigid opening that retains its shape when empty are NOT allowed. Soft-sided thigh holsters are not allowed as pistols are often not securely retained and dropped, especially when kneeling. Holsters with soft retaining straps or that require two hands to operate during reholstering are NOT allowed. Inside the waistband (IWB), covert/concealment holsters or any holster that hides the firearm from RO inspection at any time are NOT allowed. Small of the back (SOB), cross-draw, shoulder rig, backward-facing, and, in general, any holster that has the potential to muzzle another individual before and/or during the draw are NOT allowed. “Race” type holsters are permissible if equipped with a safety lock.
• 100 to 300 rounds of factory or quality reloaded ammunition.
• Each shooter must bring their own firearm, belt and holster. Sharing firearms and holsters between participants is NOT allowed.
All new shooters must be able to demonstrate the following SAFELY:
• Load their firearm.
• Operate safeties.
• Shoot from the low ready.
• Reload their firearm.
• Unload and show clear.
• Holster a safe weapon.
Accuracy testing and requirement (90 rounds required):
• 10” diameter steel targets shall be placed at 21 yards. The orientation participant is required to hit 10 times out of 30 attempts per string.
• The accuracy requirement must be accomplished twice (2 successful strings.)
• The orientation participant will be given 3 attempts (3 strings) to accomplish the accuracy requirement.
• There is no minimum time requirement.
• Failure to accomplish the accuracy requirement will be grounds for disqualification.

General Range Rules
• Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
• Do not bring any loaded firearms in or out of the range.
• All firearms that are transported to the safe table (aka. gun table) must be in their own separate case (while in the case, the pistol shall have no magazines (even empty ones) and no ammunition.
• Ammunition, loaded, or unloaded magazines are prohibited at the safe table.
• The only instance where a shooter may handle an un-holstered firearm is at the safe table or at the firing line when instructed by the RO.
• Loaded firearms may NOT be carried in the holster unless on the firing line when instructed by the RO. This is a cold range.
• Keep the muzzle of your firearm pointed down range at all times.
• When at the safe table, the muzzle of your firearm must be pointed at the berm closest to and perpendicular to the safe table. (Not downrange.)
Just so you know, the SNSS is solely maintained, funded, and operated by VOLUNTEERS. SNSS volunteers are not directly affiliated with the shooting range. Shooters are expected to help reset targets, assist in minor tasks when requested, and clean up after themselves.
